the edsa odyssey

(a response to the news: "MMDA eyes 'skybridge' to decongest EDSA")
Even if we add more skyways over and over and on top of each one... if we continue to deregulate the selling private vehicles and not push for the development of mass transport systems... we'll still have the same problems... oh, make that worse!
Another less costly thing the MMDA and all other concerned government agencies is to study the daily pattern of commuters and all road users and create a realistic management of the traffic situation. This way, the government also keeps track of the volume of vehicles on the road and where they should be... be they public or private... manage air pollution... the economic activity in relation to traffic, etc.
This also properly manages the relations with the public transport groups and operators... giving everyone an equal chance to earning a living/making relevant profits.
And we won't be seeing giant buses racing against each other and loading and unloading improperly.
There also won't be irate traffic officers who are at risk of pulmonary diseases anymore.
This concerns not only EDSA but all other major thoroughfares in the country. The thing is that EDSA... the model of all other major highways... isn't showing the best example and so the rest follows the same anti-progressive development.
The government should really stop making 'suntok sa buwan' and expensive projects and other equally stupid decisions and ought to start acting like public leaders the way they were expected to when they were put in office.
